Eames-Style DSR Eiffel Dining Chair – Black
Iconic Design • Premium Quality • Modern Style
This piece draws on the mid-century modern design tradition — styled in that spirit, and unaffiliated with the founding design house.
The chair that made the Eiffel base famous
Charles and Ray Eames developed the DSR (Dining Side Rod) chair in 1950 as part of their shell chair programme for Herman Miller — one of the first chairs to use a moulded polypropylene shell on a wire Eiffel-style base. The combination of a structural wire base with a compound-curved seat shell solved in one object the problem of how to make a chair that is simultaneously light, strong, and comfortable.
This Eames-style DSR chair captures the essential geometry: the pressed polypropylene black seat shell with its characteristic rim detail, and the slim stainless steel Eiffel base with plastic floor protectors. The result is a versatile dining chair that reads as contemporary in any interior.
